Orange Kheer

Orange kheer is a Bengali sweet dish. It is also known as Kamala kheer. It is a dessert with a sweet and sour taste. Try it once and I am sure you will end up eating the whole bowl yourself!!

Cook time: 25 mins
Total time: 30 mins
Serving: 3 Members


Ingredients:
Milk - 1/2 liter
Oranges - 1-2
Sugar - 3-4 tbsp or to taste
Cardamom powder - a pinch
Almonds
Cashews
Ghee - 1 tbsp
Method:
1. Peel the oranges, separate the outer membrane and chop into bite size pieces.
2. In a pan, heat ghee. Add the chopped almonds and cashews, fry till it turns reddish brown and keep aside.
3. In a thick bottom nonstick pan , add milk and bring it to boil. Reduce the heat and keep on heating till the milk reduces to half in quantity.
4. Add sugar and stir, till it dissolves completely in the milk. Now add the roasted nuts and cardamom powder.
5. Turn off the heat and let it cool completely. Add the orange chunks and refrigerate for 2-3 hours. Serve chilled.
