Mutton chukka



Mutton chukka hits most of the menu cards of restaurants in Tamil Nadu cooked with so much oil and spices which end up in difficult time on digestion. Certainly home cooked food tastes much better and healthy too.

Cook time: 35 mins
Total time: 50 mins
Serving: 4 Members


Ingredients:
To pressure cook mutton:
Mutton - 1/2 kg
Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Red chili powder - 1 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder - 2 tsp
Water - 1-2 cups
For masala: 
Red chili (dry) - 4-5 no
Shallots/small onions - 12-15 no
Cumin powder - 1 tsp
Pepper powder - 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves - 1 spring
Salt - to taste
Oil - 2 tbsp
Cilantro for garnishing
Method: 
1. In a pressure cooker, heat 1 tbsp oil , add the well cleaned mutton and saute for couple of minutes. 
2. Add all the ingredients give in "to pressure cook mutton" and mix everything well. Place the lid and weight, let it cook for 8-9 whistles until mutton becomes tender.
3. In a wide pan heat 2 tbsp of oil, splutter curry leaves, add dry red chilies and saute for a minute. Add chopped onions and saute well till it translucent. 
4. Now add pressure cooked mutton and salt , fry until it becomes dry. 
5. At last add cumin and pepper powder, give a good stir. 
6. Add a handful of cilantro and toss well. Switch of the flame and serve...
Note:
If you add salt to mutton while pressure cooking, it results in harder mutton.
