Ammini kozhukattai / Undrallu Gugillu

Ammini kozhukattai is a savoury mini rice balls tempered with mild spices. It is called ammini kozhukattai in Tamilnadu and Undrallu gugillu in Andhra Pradesh. It can be prepared in both sweet and spicy version. Today I tried spicy version, this can be prepared during festival days especially on Vinayagar Chathurthi. This is very healthy since it is cooked by steaming.

Prep time: 25 mins
Cook time: 20 mins
Total time: 45 min
Ingredients:
Rice flour – 1 cup
Grated coconut – 2 tbsp
Mustard seeds – ½ tsp
Curry leaves – 1 spring
Dry red chili - 2
Coconut oil – 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Water as needed

Method:
1. Boil the water by adding salt to it. Add water little by little to the flour and prepare a smooth dough.
2. Grease your hands with oil and make small size balls from the dough. Steam this in a greased idli plate for 10 to 15 mins.
3. Heat oil in a pan, temper with mustard seeds, dry red chilies and curry leaves. Add the steamed rice balls to it and add coconut. Mix well.

4. Add salt if needed. Serve as snack.
