Peas Pulao

Peas pulao or Matar pulao is a quick and easy one pot meal. It is a delicious Indian dish served as main. It is very easy to make with minimal ingredients and it is the perfect lunch box recipe. Conveniently it is a great meal that can be hurriedly prepared in weekdays morning hours.

½ cup of homemade peas pulao contains about 194 calories. Peas are really little powerhouse of nutrition that are boon for your health. Peas are low fat and has less than 100 calories in 1 cup but has lots of proteins, fiber and micro nutrients.

Ingredients:
Oil – 2 tbsp
Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
Onion – 1, chopped
Green chili – 3, slit
Ginger garlic paste – 1 tbsp
Salt to taste
Peas – 1 cup
Basmati rice – 2 cups
Coconut milk – 1 cup
Water – 1 cup


Method:
1. Soak the basmati rice for 30mins. Drain it and set aside.
2. Heat oil in pressure cooker, add in cumin seeds and let them crackle.
3. Add onions and saute till it turns translucent. Now add green chilies, ginger garlic paste and salt.
4. Add peas and mix well. Throw in the soaked rice and fry for 1 min. Now add coconut milk and water in the pressure cooker.
5. Allow it to boil and close the cooker and cook for 1 whistle. Delicious peas pulao is ready.
