Kalkandu pongal / sweet pongal is a delicious rich dessert. It is very simple and quick to prepare. Traditionally we prepare pongal with jaggery but this time for a difference i used sugar candy. It become a instant hit among my friends and family. Try this in home and share your comments.

Cook time: 25 mins
Total time: 30 mins
Ingredients:
Raw rice - 1 cup
Moong dal - 1 tbsp
Water - 3 cups
Milk - 2 cups
Sugar candy - 1 cup
Ghee - 4 tbsp
Cashews and raisins - few
Cardamom powder - 1/2 tsp
Method:
1. Wash the rice well and add in the cooker. Add moong dal , water and 1 cup of milk. Cook for 2 or 3 whistles.
2. Now open the lid, add remaining 1 cup of milk and sugar candy. Mix well until the sugar candy melts.
3. Add ghee, Cardamom powder and stir well.
4. Fry the cashews and raisins in ghee and add it to the pongal.
5. Delicious and rich pongal is ready.
Never thought of adding sugar candy to sweet dishes. It's a lovely addition and this pongal looks gorgeous and yum!
